See why 2.6 Million Subcribers Dump MTN & 52,251 Dump Etisalat Network

This is weird and crazy at the same time. Why will 2.6Million subscribers dump MTN Nigeria? That is too much a loss to bear. Could it be because MTN BBLITED was blocked? Why will 52,251 subscribers dump Etisalat? Something must be absolutely wrong somewhere.

According to a recent report released by NCC, It said that the number of subscribers that browsed the internet in January was put at 95.94 million; but reduced to 93.75 million in the month of February.
The data revealed those internet users on both the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks reduced by 2,194,162

The data showed that of the 93.75 million internet users in February, 93.6 million were on GSM networks, while 150,125 users were on the CDMA.

Of the 93.6 million internet users on the GSM networks in the month under review, MTN Nigeria had 35.6 million customers browsing the internet on its network.

MTN had a decrease of 2.6 million internet subscribers in February, after it recorded 38.21 million users in the month of January. In my own view I think is because of canceling of Bblited on android.

Globacom had 25.68 million customers surfing the net in February, as the number increased by 248,593 from the January’s record of 25.43 million.this is because their BlackBerry subscription on android remain unblocked as many nigerians are still enjoying it.

Airtel Nigeria, had 17 million internet users in the month of February, as against 16.85 million customers recorded in January.

It said that Internet users on the Airtel Nigeria network increased by 224,037 in February.my view on Airtel is because their BlackBerry subscription is not working on some device

Etisalat had 15.23 million internet users in February, against the 15.28 million in January, hence, reducing by 52,251 in the month under review.

Were you part of those that dump MTN & Etisalat? But why?

Facebook to Discontinue Supports For Blackberry

I’m sad to announce this to all Blackberry users and fans because at this moment, Blackberry is on life supports and any moment soon, they’ll die because Doctors have given up on them. Just few weeks ago, WhatsApp announced that they’ll no longer support some device in which Blackberry is not an exemption.

Now, Facebook have announced that by March 31sth 2016 they’ll no longer support Facebook native app on all blackberry OS including Blackberry 10. The app will be discontinue and replaced with a web app.

Blackberry in their official blog issue a statements below.
"The app landscape continues to evolve, and in ways that are not always within our control. Recently, Facebook made the decision to discontinue support of their essential APIs for BlackBerry and WhatsApp announced they would end support for BlackBerry 10 and BBOS at the end of 2016.
We are extremely disappointed in their decision as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands (but let them know how you feel on social media, using the hashtag #ILoveBB10Apps). Despite this, we have worked hard to ensure our end users have the best experience in light of this decision, and are continuing to search for alternate solutions..."
To all blackberry users, if you love blackberry, let Facebook know how you feel with this hastag #ILOVEBB10Apps on social media.

5G Network coming soon to replace 4G, maybe in Nigeria Too

Ahead of the 2020 fifth generation, 5G commercial launch, Chinese original equipment manufacturer, Huawei said it was seeking global partnership to build and expand the mobile industry ecosystem to become more resilient to and ensure the success of the latest technology.
According to the technology giant, as a driving force to lead 5G innovation , Huawei has continued to extend the global partnership initiatives with more than 20 carriers, including CMCC, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, NTT DOCOMO, Telefonica, TeliaSonera and Etisalat, and 10 industry partners, spanning continents in Asia, Europe, and North America.

At the just concluded Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, in partnership with foremost tech firms, it showcased technologies such as 5G New Radio Access Technologies.
Huawei initiated 5G research project in 2009. In the following years, Huawei’s 5G team has been continuously contributing its exciting breakthroughs to the development of 5G industry, including the identification of future requirements, earliest field tests of air interface technologies, world’s first sub-6 GHz 5G prototype...

The era of 5G is the era of everything on mobile…

I only have one more thing to worry about. Nigeria is never among the first countries to enjoy these services.
- Android Marshmallow have been available in other countries for a while but look around in Nigeria, nothing. The only OTA Upgrades we get causes lots of crashes.

- even some African countries are now enjoying 4G but here in Nigeria, no show.

Makes me want to cry at times, why must we always be first from the bottom in terms of reviving tech stuffs?
